+++ citkar took part in the “24 Hours of Berlin – The 10th International Cargobike Race Berlin” with two models of the Loadster cargo bike +++ The Cargobike community celebrates riders and vehicles over 24 hours of continuous use +++ The Loadster finishes 1st and 2nd in the “Heavy Pedelecs” class

Berlin, 23 August 2020 – The Berlin cargo bike manufacturer citkar took part in the Cargobike Race “24 Hours of Berlin” on 22/23 August 2020 with two Loadster cargo bikes. The race for cargo bikes, which took place for the tenth time, was planned as a kind of “Le Mans of Berlin” this time: Around 40 participants competed for the “Achim Beier Trophy”, a challenge cup with the symbolic weight of 24 kilograms, which is awarded once a year to the team with the most driven laps.

The circuit, which was opened at the MotionLab.Berlin technology centre on 22 August at 4 pm, covered around five kilometres in the Alt-Treptow district. Canisters had to be loaded at four stations and unloaded again during the following round. Similar to a reliability rally in the classic car sector, the “24 Hours of Berlin” was all about ensuring that the vehicles mastered the course without failure and completed as many laps as possible.

Team citkar / FaSTTUBe successful with 2 Loadsters

citkar has been cooperating for years with FaSTTUBe, the Formula Student Team of the TU Berlin, where the engineers of tomorrow develop, design and build vehicle technology. At the Berlin Cargobike Race FaSTTUBe provided the driver teams and citkar the vehicles:

Oliver Bredlau and Jeremy Lendowski were on the road in the Loadster 1 (model “Life” as pick-up version). Loadster 2 (model “Life” with citkar Cargo-Box) was piloted by Philipp Staubach and Julian Hahn.

In the evaluation category “Heavy Pedelecs” citkar and FaSTTUBe took first and second place – without a failure of the two Loadsters. This shows that the citkar Loadster is also able to cope with the tough demands of everyday business life, as the vehicles were not affected by 24-hour continuous operation.

Team citkar-FaSTTUBe 1 completed a total of 112 laps with a total distance of 515.2 km and achieved an average speed of 21.46 km/h. Four loading and unloading stops on each lap thus resulted in 448 stops. The citkar-FaSTTUBe 2 team completed 96 laps with a total distance of 441.6 km at an average speed of 18.4 km/h. The drivers stopped 384 times to pick up or set down loads.
