citkar wins zalando as a partner for test in autumn 2018

Berlin, September 19, 2018 – citkar and zalando have decided on a joint test phase for autumn 2018. Europe’s leading online platform for fashion and lifestyle will in future also be delivering parcels in Berlin with the e-cargo bike Loadster from citkar.

With a payload of 300kg, a battery for up to 200 km per charge and the innovative roof, zalando wants to try out solutions that go beyond traffic jams and the lack of parking spaces. The Loadster can be used on all cycle paths without a license and can be parked directly at the customer’s door.

The founder of the Berlin start-up, Jonas Kremer, sees this as the greatest advantage: “The streets in the cities are full, so the Loadster should deliberately relieve traffic,” explains Kremer. Thanks to its external resemblance to a car, the Loadster is also much more stable than conventional cargo bikes, says Kremer. The city of Berlin is also aware of these problems, as the recently passed Mobility Act shows, for example.

Jan Bartels, Vice President Customer Fulfillment & Logistics at zalando, is looking forward to the joint test phase: “For zalando, customer satisfaction is the top priority and we are therefore always on the lookout for innovative ideas, including in the area of supply. We are testing the Loadster because we see the potential for an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional delivery routes that can relieve city traffic. “

citkar has already attracted a lot of attention with its previous prototypes, was one of the winners in 2017 in the start-up live competition and in 2018 in the start2grow start-up competition. At this week’s IAA Commercial Vehicles, Kremer and his team will be presenting the pre-series model.
